Arizona

So I know this has nothing to do with quilting but...... I just went to Arizona and it was absolutely wonderful!!!!  My father in law has been talking about Arizona for years because he was a snowbird and had a vacation home there. Since his health is failing my husband, daughter and I went down to close his house and sell his cars etc. I was excited for the trip because we haven't been able to travel much but I had no idea what a wonderful adventure we were walking into. We spent the first part of our trip in the Phoenix area closing down my father in laws place and I even thought that was fun. All the trees were blooming and there are so many varieties it was beautiful.

We went down to Tombstone because we are a fan on the movie...it was a little deserted but still really cool and they have lots of people dressed in character.

For the next part of our trip we went up to Sedona.  We visited all the national parks along the way.  It's nice to have some time to explore.  The Montezuma Monument is cool because it's crazy that people lived like that or were even able to build it.  Tuzigoot is a little uneventful but still a nice stop.

Next we went to Jerome and to the Douglas Mansion Museum.  I found it very interesting and was glad we made the trek.

Coming into Sedona you can't not be astonished at it's beauty.  It is unreal how beautiful those red rocks are.  We decided to spend a few days in it's beauty.  We rented a jeep and took it off on some trails.  I would highly recommend this, if you don't feel comfortable off roading yourself they have pink jeep tours that will take you.  You get to see the most beautiful sights.  You seriously are in aw how beautiful it is, I can't even explain it.  It's also really fun climbing over rocks :)  We also checked out Red Rock State Park and Slide Rock Park both highly recommended.

Flagstaff was next then off to the Grand Canyon.  It's amazing the natural wonders in Arizona and only hours apart.  The Grand Canyon was beautiful of course.  Someone even proposed while we were there.  But I really thought the most beautiful views of the canyon where further down the road at the scenic view turnouts and not the main point.  Also the scenic turnouts were far less busy.  Oh and the desert lookout was very nice as well.

After the Grand Canyon we made our way up to Page, Arizona.  You pass by the Painted Desert which looks almost unreal.   There is so much geological wonders.

Page is home to the Glen Canyon Dam as well as Lake Powell.  Page is very close to Utah so you get in kind of a badlands terrain.  We went to Horseshoe Bend which was the most beautiful for pictures but not very toddler friendly :\  We ended our day at Lone Rock Beach where our rental car got stuck in the sand... it was quite embarrassing but some of the people who pushed us out invited us for supper and it ended up being a highlight in our trip.  They even took us out in there buggy off roading in the sand dunes.

You know it's a good trip when everyday you keep topping the day before on how much fun you had.  We are definitely going back because there was a lot of stops we couldn't make because time wouldn't allow.
